Many times in our personal lives we try to focus on becoming like God by practicing His attributes. And we should! We often quote 1 Peter 1:16, where Peter quotes Leviticus, “Be holy because I am holy.” The Bible makes that clear.

Because prayer is a relationship with God, prayer can also be continual (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Hebrews 13:15). You need to live your life in such an attitude that you can talk to God anytime. You always need to listen so that He can speak to you any time. God is always present with you as a believer. Therefore, you can pray continually.

Preaching Isaiah has turned out to be a very rewarding, but difficult task. And we are only in chapter one. Two Sunday’s ago, we dealt with a sensitive subject: does God hear and answer our prayers? Read what God says in Isaiah 1:15:

When you lift up your hands ⌊in prayer⌋, I will refuse to look at you; even if you offer countless prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood. (Isaiah 1:15 HCSB)

At first glance this looks pretty harsh. I’m pretty sure they skipped this verse to put on bumper stickers and Christian t-shirts. Nevertheless, its in the Bible. We may even begin to point the finger at God Himself and try to turn Him into the bad guy after reading this.

Praying The Wrong Way

I found out that I have prayed the wrong way for years.

God created human time. Therefore, He is above our finite time. He is infinite and eternal. He does not look at a watch, have deadlines, or worry about being late. He’s always on time. He is not bound by our human time. He is not bound by “late,” “early,” or “delayed.” Continue Reading…
